Project
The 2013 team plans to continue and build on the work of 2012 team as well as tackle new challenges in the degradation and use of polystyrene.
This year’s team will focus on three streams:
recycling- for the adaption of microorganisms in the degradation of polystyrene;
re-using- limonene biosynthesis bio bricks for the 3D printing from reused polystyrene;
re-purposing- using modified DNA for the creation of flame retardant polystyrene.
The centre idea for all three streams is to make polystyrene more environmentally friendly and degradable.
We also have several exciting outreach projects coming up. Stay tuned!
